Tutorials at Lizard Lounge Graphics Lounge : NICKL - Flag

Here is a patriotic flag made with NICKL! Hang on there mate! Isn't that the New Zealand flag if I am not mistaken? Well, yes it is. A rather nice flag and an alternative one to the stars'n'stripes as was originally presented. The NICKL project file is the same, but if you look to the bottom of the page you will find a link to the NZ flag file. But first, do you have NICKL? If not then you can download it directly from MAXON COMPUTER's Plugin Cafe, here is a handy link: Download NICKL for FREE from Plugin Cafe or if you have had trouble with the SIT file and would like a ZIP file instead...

For those of you who do not know it - NICKL is a deformation tool for C4D XL that uses noise-based functions for modeling and animation. This animated US flag is made using a simple plane and about 7 NICKL deformers combined with a vertex map and a selection sets applied to each deformer. It works fairly well - it took only about 40 minutes to set up. You are welcome to play with this and use it in your projects. I have also included an Adobe Illustrator file of the US flag that I made for the image map.

Addendum:
In light of the state of the world and my personal feelings about what the US is doing I have added alternative flag image file to work with. The original project file still has the US flag in it - but if you are like me and are interested in playing with the flag of a peaceful and mostly progressive country like New Zealand, then by all means please download the New Zealand Flag Texture zip file.
